Who we are

Aretus is a service run by 1729 Labs in India (“we”, “us”). You can contact us athello@aretus.app.

What the service does

We convert Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files into PDF, PNG, JPG, ODG and text-only DOCX files, using LibreOffice's open-source Publisher importer plus our own layout repairs. We don't use Microsoft Publisher. Conversions are automatic. In our tests most files came out well, but some may look different from the original, especially WordArt, stories continued on another page, text wrapped around pictures and unusual fonts, and some very old files can't be converted at all. That's why you can preview every page of the first 10 files before paying.

Your files

• Only upload files you own or have permission to convert.
• Your files stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service to you.
• We delete uploaded and converted files 24 hours after upload, so download what you need in time and keep your originals. The one exception: if you report a file that didn't convert well and ask us to keep it, we keep that file to fix the problem, for at most 90 days.
• Anyone with your batch's private link can see it. Keep the link to yourself unless you want to share it.

Previews and payment

• The preview and one single-file download per email address are free.
• To download a whole batch you pay once. The price is set by the number of files that converted, and you see it before you pay. Files that fail aren't charged.
• There's no subscription and nothing renews.
• Payments are handled by Paddle as the merchant of record, so your purchase is from Paddle and your receipt comes from Paddle. Paddle's checkout terms also apply to the payment itself, and Paddle may add sales tax or VAT where required.

Refunds

If a file you paid for is unusable, email us within 7 days and we'll have Paddle refund you.Tell us which batch and which file. If we can't deliver your download at all because of a problem on our side, you get a full refund. Nothing in these terms takes away refund rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

Fair use

Please don't:

• upload anything illegal, or files designed to harm our systems;
• try to get around the limits, the security check, the watermark or the payment;
• overload the service, for example with automated uploads, without asking us first;
• use throwaway email addresses or several addresses to get more free downloads;
• try to access other people's batches.

To keep the service fast for everyone, we limit how many uploads, previews and free downloads one address can use, and we may ask you to wait when the servers are busy. We may block uploads or batches that break these rules.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep the service reliable and the conversions good, but we provide it “as is”. We can't promise that every file will convert, that a converted file will look exactly like the original, or that the service will always be available.

Limits on our responsibility

As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or knock-on losses (such as lost time, lost business or lost data), and our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the batch the claim is about. Please keep copies of your original files: we delete ours after 24 hours. Nothing here limits responsibility that can't be limited by law.

Aretus is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft. Microsoft and Microsoft Publisher are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation, and we use the names only to describe the files we convert.

Changes

We may update the service and these terms. If we change the terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page. The terms that applied when you paid apply to that purchase.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim there.
